El Pilar de la Mola
El Pilar de la Mola is a charming and peaceful village that enjoys a great personality. Situated on the top of the plateau of La Mola, it is the most isolated urban nucleus of the island. Except for Wednesdays and Sundays from October to May, you can enjoy great tranquillity in this area. During the summer months, the Pilar craft market becomes the island's main attraction for visitors and residents alike.
To reach El Pilar, just follow the main road and climb more than 100 metres to reach this place surrounded by cliffs. The village stretches along both sides of the main road and at the end is the church of El Pilar, built in the 18th century. In addition to restaurants, bars and craft workshops, the famous craft market is another great attraction of this village.
A must-see is the lighthouse, located a few kilometres from Pilar, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the cliffs. Route 32 offers the chance to explore the authentic and unique Formentera, far from the tourist hustle and bustle. At over 12 kilometres long, this route is the longest of the island's 32 green routes.
